Application of Silicone Products

Silicones Overview

Silicones are organic silicone compounds available in the form of fluids, resins, and elastomers. Silicone-based products are utilized across various fields, ranging from space travel to surgical applications. They exhibit excellent heat resistance, oxidation resistance, water repellency, and good dielectric properties.

Shelf Life:

3 Years, if kept at room temperature and if the packaging is intact.

Special Properties:

Non-flammable, inert, totally safe, and non-toxic.

Applications:

Used As Properties Applications
Release Agents Temperature resistant, leaving no residue in molds, one thin coat is sufficient for many releases; prevents thermoplastic material from sticking to processing equipment. Release of rubber and plastic parts, e.g., in tire manufacturing, production of molded parts made from polyamides, cellulose acetate, polystyrene, PVC; packaging industries.
Lubricants Impart excellent slip properties to plastics and rubber, making them water-repellent at the same time, and reducing surface friction. Used in plastic bearings, sheeting, cutting tools, molded and extruded parts, sewing thread.
Damping Media Retain physical properties almost unchanged in a temperature range of over 200°C. Used in speed regulators, fluid clutches (e.g., for fans), nautical and aeronautical instruments, gyrostatic compasses, liquid springs, recorders, time regulators, spring valves, overload relays, sound pickups.
Hydraulic Fluids Excellent viscosity-temperature performance, high compressibility, and stability under shear. Used in shock absorbers, pumps, recoil brake cylinders.
Liquid Dielectrics Electrical properties remain almost unchanged at high and low temperatures as well as in a wide frequency range; resistant to radiation. Used as cooling agents (e.g., for magnetrons or other heat radiating components), transformers, condensers, high voltage tubes, spacecraft (in high altitudes where air is insufficient as a cooling agent).

Other Uses:

Silicones are utilized in various industries, leveraging their unique properties for numerous applications.
